RecycleIT Tackles Digital Poverty with School Laptops Giveaway

As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing educational resources and supporting digital learning, RecycleIT is thrilled to announce the success of our recent laptop giveaway! We donated 10 HP 830 G6 laptops to deserving schools across the UK and were overwhelmed by the response—over 200 schools entered the draw!

Announcing the Winner: The Lotus Academy

We are delighted to share that The Lotus Academy in Norfolk was the lucky winner of our giveaway. This small specialist all-through school serves 14 pupils with diagnoses of Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH), Autism, ADHD, or both. The school faces significant challenges due to its limited budget, making it difficult to provide essential technology for every student.

CEO Sandra Govender expressed her heartfelt gratitude:

“We are a small specialist all-through school where all of our 14 pupils have diagnoses of Social Emotional Mental Health, Autism, ADHD, or both. Our children learn best through technology; however, with a limited budget, we cannot afford a laptop for every child. The laptops will be extremely valuable in our computing lessons to learn programming such as Scratch, Python, etc., and for research and use of word documents in other lessons, as writing is one of their main difficulties. We can’t thank RecycleIT enough for supporting digital poverty and their National Sustainability Project.”

Bridging the Digital Divide

At RecycleIT, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to excel, and access to technology is a crucial part of that journey. By providing laptops to The Lotus Academy, we are not only enhancing their educational resources but also supporting the unique learning needs of their students. The donated laptops will be instrumental in their computing lessons, allowing students to explore programming languages like Scratch and Python, and aiding in other subjects where technology can make a significant difference.

A Commitment to Sustainability and Education

Our laptop giveaway is part of RecycleIT’s broader National Sustainability Project, which aims to support communities and promote environmental stewardship across the UK. Tackling digital poverty is a critical component of our mission, ensuring that students from all backgrounds have the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world.

Looking Forward

RecycleIT is committed to continuing our efforts to bridge the digital divide and empower students through technology. We are excited about the positive impact our donation will have on The Lotus Academy and look forward to supporting more schools in the future.
