Commitment to achieving Net Zero
RecycleIT Now Ltd are committed to
achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that
have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of
any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point
against which emissions reduction can be measured.

the Baseline Emissions calculations. |
|
During our baseline year 2022 we had an external carbon audit plan
created, supported by the local chamber of commerce. This provided a great
insight into the details and information we need to capture to enable us to
monitor and measure our emissions. We have improved out ISO 14001 Certification,
joining BSI, who are UKAS approved Auditor. |

Emissions reduction targets
·
During 2022 we made further investment into LED
lighting in our facilities to reduce our annual energy usage.
·
We have improved the amount of e-waste that goes
to our downstream partners by reusing and refurbishing a higher percentage of
end-of-life IT equipment.
·
Our logistics team plan routes to make multiple
collections and/or deliveries on one trip. This reduces the mileage and
subsequent fuel usage across our fleet.
·
We now have a 4-star rating from UN Sustainable Development
Goals, with the aim of tackling poverty, inequality, and climate change by 2030.
The scheme
was set up to support businesses achieve their goal target(s). RecycleIT are
fully committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of our
Sustainability Project on both a local and National Scale. Our 4 goals are.
–
GOAL 8 – Decent work & economic growth.
–
GOAL 11 – Makes cities human, safe and sustainable.
–
GOAL 12 – Ensure sustainable consumption and
production patterns.
–
GOAL 15 – Protect, restore, and promote sustainable
use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat
desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity
loss.
To continue our progress to achieving
Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets:
·
We have two sustainability pledges in place as a
business. The first pledge is to plant one tree for every tonne of e-waste we collect
from our clients. The second pledge is to plant one tree for the sale of every ten
laptops or PC’s we sell in the year. These trees will be planted locally at one
of our charities / partners. We anticipate planting over 2,000 trees in 2023, improving
local habitat and capturing carbon against our current usage.
·
Scope 1 emissions are not currently being
measured, however we plan to monitor and measure the CO2e usage of our fleet
for customer collections and deliveries, with a view to offsetting this amount
by again planting trees in our local community, from 2024. This is our only
relevant scope 1 emission, as we have no other direct emissions from owned and
controlled sources.
We project that our carbon emissions
will decrease to 0.0237tCO2e by 2027. This is a reduction of 50%.
A template of how we will track our
progress is shown below:
Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon
Reduction Initiatives
The following
environmental management measures and projects have been completed or
implemented since the 2021 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by
these schemes equate to 0.0095 tCO2e, a 16%ge reduction against the 2021
baseline:
·
We have invested in our ISO certification by
joining BSI to improve our environmental management procedures. This will also
help to monitor and measure our performance.
·
We have joined the local Chamber of Commerce,
who provide workshops regarding carbon planning and educate our people on
energy consumption.
In the future we
hope to implement further measures such as:
·
Moving all company cars to electric or hybrid
vehicles.
·
Further investment into our facilities such as
solar panels, an energy efficient heating solution in the warehouse and the install
of a further charging point for fleet vehicles.
Customer Feedback
As part of our
monitoring and measuring process, we seek feedback and references from our
clients & partners to identify the impact that our services have had on
their business. Not only do our clients directly see the amount of e-waste that
has been reused and recycled, but they also see positive environmental impacts
such as improved local habitats in the chosen location of our tree planting project.
Below are
references from our clients and partners regarding the sustainable services we
offer:
·
‘’RecycleIT have become a key partner for the
collection of our redundant IT equipment. Knowing that our IT equipment is
reused & recycled with a zero-landfill policy helps with our CSR and
provides reassurance that all our e-waste is securely disposed of in an environmentally
friendly way. RecycleIT collected over 10,000kg of e-waste from our site, with
a reuse rate of 90%, reducing 9,000kg of our e-waste. Their sustainability reports
assisted with our own environmental planning and we would highly recommend the
services they offer ‘’ – MD, local hospitality business.
